Android WireGuard Setup

Follow this guide to set up WireGuard on your Android device

Download WireGuard from Play Store

Download the official WireGuard app from Google Play Store.

💡 Tip: The WireGuard app is free and officially supported by the WireGuard project.

Install and Open WireGuard

After downloading from Play Store:

  1. Tap "Install" and wait for the installation to complete
  2. Open the WireGuard app
  3. You'll see an empty tunnel list on first launch

Get Your Configuration

Download your WireGuard configuration from the GetIP.online dashboard.

⚠️ Account Required: You need to create an account and generate a tunnel first.

Import Configuration

Import your configuration into WireGuard:

  1. In the WireGuard app, tap the blue "+" button
  2. Choose one of these options:
    • Import from file - Browse and select your .conf file
    • Scan from QR code - Scan the QR code from dashboard
  3. Your tunnel will appear in the list
💡 QR Code Method: Using the QR code scanner is often easier on mobile - just show the QR code from your dashboard and scan it directly.

Connect to Your Tunnel

Now you can activate your IPv6 tunnel:

  1. Tap on your tunnel name to select it
  2. Toggle the switch to connect
  3. Android will ask for VPN permission - tap "OK"
  4. The toggle will turn blue when connected
⚠️ VPN Permission: Android requires you to approve VPN connections for security. This is normal and safe.

Verify Connection

Check that your tunnel is working correctly:

  1. The toggle switch should be blue/enabled
  2. You'll see a key icon in your status bar
  3. Tap on the tunnel name to view statistics
  4. You should see data transfer amounts increasing
💡 Test IPv6: Open your browser and visit test-ipv6.com to verify your IPv6 connection.

Troubleshooting

Connection fails immediately

  • Check your mobile data or Wi-Fi connection
  • Ensure no other VPN is running
  • Try regenerating your tunnel in the dashboard

Battery optimization issues

  • Go to Settings → Battery → Battery optimization
  • Find WireGuard and select "Don't optimize"
  • This prevents Android from stopping the VPN

No internet after connecting

  • Disconnect and reconnect the tunnel
  • Check if your mobile carrier supports IPv6
  • Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data

All Set!

You're now connected to the IPv6 internet through GetIP.online. Your tunnel will remain active for 30 days.
